About Me
Kassandra Ellison is a sculptor and painter. Who hand-builds clay sculptures, and has specific interests in history, cultures, ancestry, place, and change. Her works examine the mystery of history, and how different meanings can mean different contexts within cultures. She examines shapes, textures, emotions, and expressions within her works.. “
With painting, she uses oil or acrylic to paint her portraits and scenes. Her paintings explore people in their settings. “What I have found necessary to explore with painting has been the use of space within the painting, by mainly trying to reflect and contain the use of a room, or object, as an extension of the sitter, that will further familiarize them in their social setting. An example of this viewpoint I have undertaken consists of the resident's daily routine, for example; a favorite chair or cup. Other necessary explorations that I particularly focused on were the use of color and what I used to apply paint, for example, tempera. Or oil and encaustic. The use of different mediums also became important, mixed media, watercolor, acrylic paint oil, etc. Art History heavily influenced the way my painting headed, it became even more important to rather than just paint every day and sometimes read about Art History, it became as important as painting, reading as much as doing art.”
In regards to perspective, I love that when creating art, whether it be depicting people, places, things, and scenes, what art can make you feel, what times, places, and memories it conjures up within you, or how art can be experimentative, nostalgic, unintentional, and raw.
Art inspires me, forms how I see the world, and makes me happy.
Thank you so much for visiting my site…I hope my art brings you joy.
